Pineda & Lakemont ponds

The City of Cocoa, Florida embarked on a stormwater treatment program in December 2019 with the installation of two floating wetlands in a small pond on Pineda Street. In April, 2021, we installed nine additional floating wetland islands in three stormwater ponds on Lakemont Street. The total area of the ponds is  2.23 acres (97,230 square feet). The total area of the eleven floating wetland islands is 4,849 square feet (450.65 square meters). 

The early lab analyses from Pineda and partial results from Lakemont indicate that the nitrogen and phosphorus harvests are higher than average. We will update the actual nutrient removal numbers in June 2022.
