​Cape coral, FL

The City of Cape Coral, Florida designed an experimental system of floating treatment wetlands for deployment in strategically located ponds, within the city’s stormwater canals.  Beemats installed 5,525 square feet of floating wetland islands in five ponds in September 2021. We are monitoring the plant growth every four months during this first year and making adjustments to the species composition in order to establish the best communities for nutrient uptake. We will begin harvesting plants and nutrients later this year.​
