Broadway boulevard pond

The Broadway Pond is adjacent to U.S.1 near Port St. John, Florida.  The drainage basin for this pond is mostly residential and roadway.  Although the Indian River Lagoon is located only 400 feet to the east, the pond is located on a low ridge and has fresh water.  It covers 2.75 acres (119,790 square feet), and has  5,990 square feet of floating wetlands, composed of 12 islands.  The nutrient loads to the Broadway ponds are not as heavy as some of the stormwater ponds in east Brevard County.  The nutrient harvests over the past six years have prevented 966.5 pounds of nitrogen and 83.1 pounds of phosphorus from reaching the Indian River Lagoon estuary.
